The history of the Bluenose, the Nova Scotia fishing schooner that became a racing legend and the ship on Canada’s dime. Marq wanted to tell the fuller story behind the legend: the shipbuilding and fishing industry she came from, and the men who fished, raced and sailed her.

He wrote it while living in Lunenburg, where he could see the masts of the Bluenose II from his office window.
