Marq de Villiers

Windswept

The Story of Wind and Weather

First published 2006 by McClelland & Stewart

An account of how wind works and the weather it makes, mixing science, history and stories, and built around the path of Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

Marq had been wary of wind since childhood, when a South Atlantic gale nearly blew him into the sea; he later wrote the book while living on the North Atlantic coast, in the path of its hurricanes.
