Dangerous World
Natural Calamities, Manmade Catastrophes and the Future of Human Survival
A survey of the disasters that threaten us, from asteroid strikes and earthquakes to pandemics, floods and great storms, and of whether human activity is making them worse. Despite the subject, it ends on a note of hope rather than fear.
The idea came from a remark by the Princeton scientist Stephen Pacala: “All kinds of terrible things could happen, and the universe of terrible things is so large that some of them probably will.” The book was also published in Croatian.
